The compensation for the financial loss of a French agri-food company.

Context of the case

Our Client was a French agri-food company which, before contacting TERRILLON AVOCATS, had engaged in a merger with a company in the same sector. Following advanced negotiations and the resulting obligations for our Client, the Client made significant industrial investments to prepare for the merger. However, the negotiations were abruptly broken off by the prospective buyer, causing significant damage to our Client.

The Client was seeking compensation for the financial loss thus they had suffered.

Our involvement 

TERRILLON AVOCATS advised, assisted, and represented the Client in this case. The Firm took legal action against the company which had abruptly broken off the talks, seeking compensation for the damages suffered by our Client. The aim was to obtain compensation in the amount of one million euros.

The case was argued before the Commercial Court and then before the Court of Appeal. 

Results obtained

Between the first and second instance, the actions taken by TERRILLON AVOCATS lasted three years. The Court of Appeal ordered the party responsible for the abrupt termination of the talks to compensate our Client up to one million euros.

As a result of the actions taken by our Firm, the Client received full compensation for the damage it had suffered.
